Platform

One core. Every module a switch.

Roost has a core that every organisation gets and cannot turn off, and modules that each organisation switches on. A switched-off module leaves the sidebar, refuses its routes and takes its public pages down. It deletes nothing.

The core

Always on, because nothing works without it.

People

A 360 view of every person: timeline, tags, follow-ups, segments, bulk actions, export for those allowed to.

Quality

TellParrot's data quality per record, worked as a queue rather than admired on a dashboard.

Contact

Calls, email in and out, texts in and out, threaded, with attachments.

Consent

Every channel a separate yes or no, kept as a receipt with the words agreed to, checked at the moment of sending.

Payments

Orders, receipts, refunds and the money in one place, whichever module took it.

Feeds

Deliveries from TellParrot, signed and replayable. What arrives is the master's word.

Audit

Who did what, when, with what evidence. Erasing a person is the one destructive act, and it is admin-only.

The team

Roles from one permission matrix. Owners, admins, stewards, fundraisers, member services, coordinators, directors, finance, viewers.

Modules · Reach

Getting the word out and hearing back.

switch

Campaigns and journeys

Email and text a list, schedule a send, run a sequence, and keep a Mailchimp audience in step with a segment.

switch

Forms and surveys

Public forms with consent receipts, surveys and assessments, and embeds for your own website.

In public: the public form pages and their embeds

switch

Secure messages between a parent or participant and the organisation, answered from the inbox and visible to directors.

In public: the Messages tab in the portal

Modules · Money

Everything that involves a dollar, a receipt or a budget.

switch

Fundraising

The asks pipeline, pledges, appeals with supporter pages, monthly giving, and campaign targets.

In public: the appeal pages, supporter pages and the giving band

needs fundraising

Cheque deposits

A deposit of cheques entered as a batch, each with a suggested donor and fund that a person confirms.

needs fundraising

Workplace giving and partners

Employers, payroll remittances, matched gifts, and corporate agreements with what is owed under them.

switch

Memberships

Plans, joining online, renewals, a grace period, and the magazine mailing list.

In public: the join page

switch

Goods sold and posted: stock, a parcel to send, and the order in TellParrot.

In public: the shop pages

switch

Money by area

Funds, budgets, the books read in from your accounting system, expense claims, and a P&L per area with a forecast.

switch

Grants

Grants with a metric register, reports with locked snapshots, reminders, and small-group suppression.

Modules · Delivery

The programmes, events and people who run them.

switch

Events

Tickets, a door list, sponsorships, team bookings, an auction and a raffle, each switched on per event.

In public: the event pages

switch

Programmes

Clubs, classes and camps: sessions, registrations with consent, the door, a kiosk, who has gone quiet, grade rollover.

In public: the kiosk screens

switch

Volunteers

Applied to approved, checks with an expiry, trainings that recur, rosters and hours.

Describe to configure

Say what you do. Roost proposes the switches, and says why.

An admin describes the organisation in their own words and ticks what it does. Roost sets each switch with the phrase that decided it beside it, for a person to read and save. The rules are words, not a model: they run as you type, and every one is a line in a test.

Events, one level down

Describe the event, and it is created with the parts it needs.

Tickets, sponsorships, guest names, a gift at checkout, an auction, a raffle, a target: seven switches per event. Off hides the panel for staff and the section on the public page, and the server refuses what the page no longer offers.
