Program, food and activities
A day at OSHC
After a more structured school day, it is important for children to have a chance to relax and be able to choose from a variety of activities that appeal to them.
The shape of the day
From the morning bell to pick-up
Sign in and breakfast
Before school care runs 6.30am to 8.40am. A parent, guardian or authorised adult signs each child in, and the day starts with a filling, healthy breakfast.
Gate sign-in, 7.00–7.30am
An educator waits just inside the Wentworth Parade gate, so you can park, walk your child to the gate, sign in and leave quickly.
Afternoon tea at 3pm
After school care runs 3.00pm to 6.00pm, beginning with a tasty afternoon tea with fresh food, fruit and vegetables.
Play, projects and homework
Children choose between planned activities, free play and quiet time to do homework, with encouragement.
Sign out by 6.00pm
A parent, guardian or authorised adult signs each child out. Park on Wentworth Parade in the Stop Drop Go Zone after 3.30pm.

Our structured activities originate from children & educators' feedback. These include drama, art/craft, cooking, science, sports, and construction, with special themed days across the term. The program caters to children's age, developmental needs, skills, and interests, with a commitment to ensuring inclusion for children with additional needs. We actively seek input and feedback from educators, children, and families and evaluate programs weekly, and children have a choice of activities each day, with a big emphasis on friendship.
Children may be involved in supervised cooking experiences which are age-appropriate and may include the use of cooking equipment including stovetops, ovens, toasters, kettles and electric frying pans. Risk assessments are carried out to ensure age appropriateness and that all safety measures are in place.
Sport and extra-curricular
Active afternoons
We have a strong focus on encouraging students to increase their physical activity levels by participating in fun and structured activities after school, which will develop essential motor skills.
The service also aims to offer optional additional activities facilitated by our talented team of educators, such as our Budding Chefs Program, Touch Rugby, Netball, Dancing, Speech and Drama and many more. We are constantly exploring different experiences based on the children's interests.
Children can also transition to and from extra-curricular activities run on school grounds by external providers (e.g. tennis lessons, swimming lessons, martial arts, environmental club, chess club) once a parent has completed the additional activities permission form and suitable transitioning arrangements are in place. Please see the Coordinators for details.
Food
Healthy, fresh and made with care
Nutrition is a core part of our program. Our menus are developed in line with EQ's Smart Choices Guidelines and PANOSH, and we are members of Nutrition Australia.
Breakfast
A good start to the day with a filling and healthy breakfast, every before school session.
Afternoon tea
At 3pm children are hungry again: a tasty afternoon tea with a good balance of fresh food, fruit, and vegetables.
Holiday menu
During vacation care we are fully catered, offering nutritious breakfast, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea each day.
Our menus offer a wide variety of fresh foods and are based on seasonal produce, with an emphasis on organically grown, free-range foods as much as possible. Menus are on display at the service, change weekly, and are published each week on our Facebook and Instagram pages. Water is available to children at all times.
Food served by our Smart Bites food service complies with the Queensland Government's Smart Choices Guidelines. Most menu items are prepared on-site and include many options for children with allergies or intolerances. We invite feedback from parents, students, and staff.
Please tell us if your child has any special dietary requirements or food allergies. We may require you to complete a Medical Management Plan.
